Footwear exports reached 15 million pairs and moved $99.3 million in January. In volume, there was a 33.4% increase compared to the same month of 2018. In value, the advance was 23%. The data were drawn up by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalcados). Among the destinations, the sales performance is highlighted for the United States. Shipments to the country increased by 80% in volume to 1.67 million pairs. In value, there was 52% growth, to $18.5 million.
The second main destination of exports was France, with sending 1,77 million pairs. The third country was Argentina, which lives an economic crisis and reduced Brazil's purchases.
There was 231% growth in exports to the United Kingdom, reaching 307,3 thousand pairs. In value, shipments grew 115%, to $3.4 million. The United Kingdom was the market chosen by Abicalça to be developed last year in an export incentive program. Source: Value
