The jeans came up there in the 1800s. Because it was a resistant fabric, at the time the denim was used in the manufacture of work uniforms for workers.
Levi Strauss was the merchant who sold the denim and Jacob Davis was his client: bought the fabric to manufacture pants for his workers. In order to increase the strength of the pieces, Davis decided to apply metal rivets on the seams to prevent them from opening. The invention made so certain that the duo patented jeans with copper rivet and in 1873 received the official authorship of the product. Years later, in 1890, Strauss added the identification number '501' in the rivets applied to his jeans.
The rivet has not lost its main function, but currently it is also explored as a denim customization item.
