The scenario of the footwear sector is improving, proof of this is that, for the third consecutive month, the footwear industries of the Bells and Paranhana Valleys, and the region of Encosta da Serra, registered a greater number of admissions than of layoffs. According to data released by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalcados), between the months of July and September, 2,813 new contracts were carried out in the sector in these regions.
Only in the month of September, 11.424 jobs were opened in the footwear industry in the country. At a national level, data from the Ministry of Economics point out that 18,840 contracts were carried out more than shutdowns, from July to September 2020.
This sum of data points out that, after delicate months and with drastic reductions caused by the reflections of the Coronavirus pandemic, the productive force of the calçadista sector is recovering gradually. Month by month the steps towards economic recovery are firmer and more precise, which reinforces positive expectations in relation to 2021.
Another key thermometer to evaluate the progress of sector recovery at regional and national level is the resumption of important business fairs in the month of November. One of the main is the Zero Grau Fair, which will take place between November 16th and 17th, in the Serra Park in Gramado.
The export of footwear has also been presenting encouraging results. According to Abicalcados, in October, 10.43 million pairs were shipped, resulting in $55.4 million. A growth of 28.6% in volume and 4.8% in revenue in comparison with the month of September. In the 2020 accumulated, shoe exports total 74.9 million pairs and $545.35 million.
