The Government of the RS recently officialized tax changes to the sectors of the boardwalkers and others. The footwear taxation system was changed and fixed the ICMS rate by 4%. According to the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, the measure aims to allow the State to have conditions to compete with other states and countries. The coureiro-calçadista sector had a year of growth in the sector in the state, has intensive labor employment and the expectation is that the development of these companies generates even more jobs. The decree for the footwear industry is the result of a sectoral pact to stimulate the economy. The document signed by the governor enters into force on April 1, 2020 and allows industries to opt for a new ICMS taxation alternative for the footwear industry. Companies that join will have a rate of 4% instead of the current 12%. In addition, there are some counterparts, including the maintenance of 90% of the jobs in the last 12 months, the use of at least 50% of gaucho inputs, and 100% of imports. With this new model of taxation, the reduction in the value of the final product of gaucho footwear can decrease from 5 to 10%. In addition to the decree that benefits the lowering sector, Governor Eduardo Leite granted benefit through tax changes to four more chains of the Gauche economy. They are: microbreeding, cereals, metal structures and electroelectronics. Source: NH Journal
