The 2020 World Footwear Yearbook was released and in it we found a very important data for the footwear sector: the export indices of Brazilian shoes.
Despite being the export source of nearly two to three pairs exported in 2019, China has been decreasing its market share in recent years. Since 2010, the country lost 7 points in the ranking and its capital, Hong Kong, fell from 3rd to 15th position among exporters. In the same period, Vietnam doubled its participation while India and Turkey assumed the 5th and 6th position in the ranking, respectively.
When the issue is export, the Brazilian company that takes the lead is Alpargatas with US$ 715.5 million in business and 17,3 thousand employees, followed by Grendene who owns US$ 486.3 million and 14.6 thousand employees. Complete the Top 05 of the list: N2C. With Internet with US$ 446.3 million; Arezzo with US$ 328.5 million; and Dass Nordeste Footwear with US$ 241.7 million.
Good news: despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 that caused retractions in direct sales abroad compared to the previous year, Vulcabrás Azaleia resumed the marketing of sports footwear for Argentina. With this achievement, the company gained a volume growth in this category when compared to the same 2019 season.
