The actions of Brazilian Footwear, a footwear export support program maintained by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalcados) in partnership with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) generated US$162 million in 2018. The results are related to 13 actions, between trade fairs and commercial missions carried out abroad, which generated, $40 million, expecting another $12 million in businesses aligned during the events.
The actions of the program, existing since the year 2000, are fundamental to the exports of footwear, not only in volume, but also in qualification. 18 years ago, products were exported to 99 countries, which reached over 160 last year. In addition to diversification, we embark on more products with their own brand, making the national footwear desired and known in the main markets of the world.
About 250 companies associated with Brazilian Footwear account for more than 80% of footwear exports, slice that tends to grow as brands perceive the importance of adopting external market action as a perennial and not only occasional strategy.
