The year began positive for the sidewalkers. Although the comparison base of last year is weak, the more than 11,37 million pairs marketed abroad, which generated US$ 81.4 million, indicate the sequence in the growth of shipments registered in late 2016. The numbers are 17.5% higher in generated values and 0.6% lower in volume compared to the first month of the previous year (US$69.3 million and 11.44 million pairs).
Destinations
The main destinations of Brazilian footwear in the first month of the year were the United States, where 1,3 million pairs were shipped that generated US$16 million (high 2% in volume and 5% in values in the relationship with equal month of 2016) and France, which bought 1.45 million pairs for US$9 million (falls of 41.7% in volume and 6.6% in dollars). The positive highlight was due to Argentina, which imported 409 thousand pairs that generated $7 million, high of 98% in pairs and 165% in dollars compared to the same period last year.
States
The main Brazilian exporter of footwear in the first month of the year was Rio Grande do Sul. In the period, gauchoes embarked 1.9 million pairs that generated $33.3 million, higher numbers in both pairs (22.9%) and dollars (23%) in the relationship with January 2016. The second exporter was Ceará, from which they departed 4.88 million pairs for $24.87 million, records 2.4% lower in volume and 2.1% higher in dollars in the relationship with last year. In the third post, São Paulo embarked on 695.8 thousand pairs that generated $8.57 million, 0.4 percent more in pairs and 51.4% more in dollars in comparison with 2016.
Falling imports
Imports followed the fall trend recorded over 2016. In the first month, 2,5 million pairs entered Brazil by which they were paid $35.62 million, lower numbers both in volume (5.5%) and in values (6.1%) in the relationship with January last year.
The main origins of imports are Asian countries. In January, Vietnam exported 1.2 million pairs for $20.75 million to Brazil, falls from 1.3% in pairs and 6.4% in values in the relationship with 2016. The second largest international shoe salesman for Brazil was Indonesia, a country that sent 369.85 thousand pairs for $6 million, falls of 21.5% in pairs and of 24.5% in values in comparison with the same period last year. The third origin was China, from which 653.2 thousand pairs were departed for $4.1 million, 16.5% in pairs and 10% in dollars in comparison with 2016.
The first month of the year also recorded drop in imports of parts of footwear ?heads, soles, heels, insoles etc. In the period entered Brazil the equivalent of $5.34 million, 30% less than last year. The main origins were China, Vietnam and Paraguay.
